Available on iOS and Android and offered in 7 languages, this free application has been designed to make the identification of different cetacean species simple, fast, and accessible to everyone—whether you are a nature enthusiast, a marine wildlife observer, or simply curious to learn more about these fascinating animals.
The SCS app provides you with an interactive database dedicated to more than 80 cetacean species. It also offers direct access to general information about the Swiss Cetacean Society, allows you to easily visit its website, and gives you the option to contact the NGO via email in just a few clicks.
To find a species, users can choose between three convenient search modes: by the species’ Latin name, by its common name, or by browsing a mosaic of thumbnail images representing the different species.
Each whale and dolphin species has a detailed, richly illustrated profile. You will find the Latin name as well as names in the different available languages, a realistic illustration, and a wide range of essential information such as size, weight, geographic distribution, behavior, diet, reproduction, and the threats these marine mammals face.
